High reliability | For maximum reliability, IONOS Cloud runs your IONOS Cloud Object Storage in a highly available setup and backs up your data with local replication. You also have the option to choose georedundant data storage. There’s a charge for primary and georedundant storage usage.

Object Lock for long-term storage | Once an object has been stored, Object Lock protects it from being deleted, modified or overwritten — for years if required. You configure the retention periods according to your needs. If a new version of the same file is uploaded, the system automatically creates an additional version of the document. In this way, Object Lock makes your data auditable and meets the legal WORM ("Write Once Read Many") requirements for long-term data storage.

IONOS Cloud Object Storage is a cost-effective way to store large volumes of backup or archive data. You can integrate it directly with backup software or use S3-compatible tools to upload data. Features like Object Lock (WORM) ensure your backups remain immutable— protected from accidental deletion and ransomware. Because storage is scalable and billed based on actual usage, it works well for daily backups, disaster recovery snapshots, and long-term archiving.
Object Storage uses a pay-as-you-go pricing model based only on stored data and transfer volume. There's no need to pre-allocate capacity or manage virtual disks, which lowers overhead and complexity. It's especially cost-efficient for cold data (like infrequent backups or archives) and scalable workloads with changing storage needs. You only pay for what you actually use — helping reduce costs in many backup and archive scenarios.
Yes. IONOS Cloud Object Storage includes Object Lock, which lets you make data immutable for a set retention period. That means backups or archives can't be changed or deleted — protecting you against accidental edits, ransomware, or malicious activity. It's a critical feature for ensuring long-term data integrity.
Data transmission costs are not included and will be added according to the current pricing.

IONOS Cloud Object Storage can be accessed via the IONOS Cloud Data Center Designer (DCD) by clicking on the corresponding menu item in the menu bar. This opens the Object Storage Management Console, a graphical interface that allows you to manage your objects.
Contract owners and administrators can start using IONOS Object Storage immediately and enable this feature for other users.
